About

Mobile Bay Job Seekers provides guidance, support, networking and information essential to career development in today’s job market.

Launched in May 2009 by Guy Carter, President of The Carter Group -- an Executive Search Firm headquarted in Mobile, AL, the Community Outreach program drew job seekers from across the Gulf Coast.  With the help of local career development specialists and sponsor Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, the group began offering weekly counseling sessions, monthly lectures and other services at the church.

To accommodate the geographic growth of the job seekers program, a group was formed in October 2009 at Daphne United Methodist Church serving Baldwin County.

Today, Mobile Bay Job Seekers boasts a solid success record, helping its membership locate new employment, even in a difficult economy.  The methods employed by Mobile Bay Job Seekers are progressive and proven to work.

“Conducting a job search in today’s economy requires a uniquely different approach.  Today we live in a world of soundbites and instant communication.  The methodology we've developed is designed with an understanding of the current market place, the economy, and a keen sense of the tools and approaches needed to get the attention of an employer.  The program introduces ways to for our job seekers to differentiate yourself from others applying for the same job.”

-- Guy Carter, Founder, Mobile Bay Job Seekers

Our Program includes three Major Components:

  1. Planning a job search campaign using a 7-Step Process, including the development of personal branding techniques, planning the search process, identifying a contact list, how to utilize research, and other activities and steps.
  2. Constructing a Resume and Cover Letter for a world that doesn’t read.  In today’s busy world with information overload, most business people scan and skim information.
  3. Weekly Networking Meetings with Counselors is the key to the success of the overall program.  During these weekly meetings job seekers share their activities from the previous week, what seemed to work well, and what did not.  The objective is to have a place where you can share ideas, help each other in the job search process, share job leads and minimize the frustration and isolation of searching for a job on your on.
